A gold proof medal issued to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of Brussels. The obverse depicts Brussels Town Hall beneath the inscription URBS BRUXELLA. The reverse shows Saint Michael slaying the dragon, the traditional symbol of Brussels, together with the dates 979–1979. Designed after Jacob Wiener and engraved by Georges André Brunet.
